Kenda Kikuyu

Kenda® turf is a fast establishing form of Kikuyu turf with great drought and wear tolerance. If you have a large dog or kids, or a footy team to keep happy, Kenda® Kikuyu is a good high wear tolerance option. Kenda® turf is excellent value, especially when you consider how much better its Winter colour is compared to any other warm season turf, including Buffalo, Couch, or other Kikuyu types.

Kenda® Kikuyu has greatly improved wear tolerance because it has four times as many rhizomes, and more vigorous stolons. It’s far more Winter active, which is important as that’s when sporting lawns are prone to most damage.

Ovals and Parks

For commercial use: sporting fields, parks, golf courses, race courses and other amenity areas.

More rhizomes. With four times as many rhizomes compared to common Kikuyu, Kenda® turf is far more wear tolerant. In the past, Couch was often used because it had more rhizomes compared to Kikuyu, but now with Kenda® turfs increased rhizomes, Kenda® Kikuyu has many clear advantages over Couch.

More vigorous stolons. Kenda® turf sends out strong runners that grow faster than other Kikuyu. This equates to much faster repair after wear.

More Winter active. Winter is the time when most lawns are damaged on sporting venues. The grass stops growing, and wear is far more noticeable. Kenda® Kikuyu keeps growing in Winter in most parts of Australia. Even under moderate frost, it keeps growing. Our research shows that Kenda® turf is the most Winter active warm season turf available in Australia.

Best winter colour. Kenda® turf will remain far greener in Winter.  Well after all the Couch and common Kikuyu sporting venues have gone brown, Kenda® turf ovals and parks will remain green. Kenda® Kikuyu also has a  far darker green colour than common Kikuyu.

Kikuyu yellows. Kenda® turf is far better able to cope with disease pressures from Kikuyu Yellows and other diseases, mainly due to it robust nature.

Better vigor. Even under low fertiliser, or in poor soils, Kenda® turf is far more vigorous than other Kikuyu types. Under good care, the dark green colour of Kenda® turf is amazing.
